The tarmac cycle path that runs alongside the full length of the Canal de Garonne makes it an excellent place for flat walks - often shady too - when you can discover several interesting little villages and towns, notably Damazan, which might otherwise be missed.
The Chateau, which is set in acres of grounds, has been almost completely restored and is furnished, which in itself is unusual and makes it worth a visit from an historical viewpoint.
For adults and children alike it’s a superb family day out but an absolute must if you have children, being full of entertainment inside the chateau and in the grounds. Medieval games, jousting practice, giant chess, a crossbow range, writing with a quill, a visit to the skeleton in the dungeon..….the entertainment is endless. There are picnic areas inside the castle and out. Take a picnic with you and make the most of it.
This is a fun historical visit, a very unique experience that can be enjoyed in all weather conditions and a must for anybody holidaying in the area.
